Does chip cause any problems ?I plan fixing the extractor myself.And body ever re barrel one of these guns.

I have 3 of these rifles.. One with no Chip, one with a minor, and one with a very defined chip (had it before I bought the rifle and modified it) and all shoot the same..

The rifle with the nasty chip shoots fine and has never shown any signs of gas leakage issues or bulging. I shoot it without worry.

I thought about sending it in until I found out that'd it be the last time I saw it, and I wasn't interested in any of the offerings as replacement..

Not exactly sure, unless it's the modification on the first page.. It's not my idea by any means!! I just took pictures when I did my second rifle

Thanks Paper for the step by step instructions! Made the modification to my Classic Benchmark today your post on this process made it very easy to perform, used a sharpening stone to polish the contacting edge of the extractor and can feel much less friction upon slowly closing the bolt. I received this rifle as a gift from my wife the first year they came out with it and learned quickly about the chipping issue so it just sat in the safe for many years until now! looking forward to finally putting it to good use!!

Read and reread your fine post and finally tackled this. Great instructions. Only problem I had was reinserting the pin through the extractor as my old hands don't do well on small parts.

Took it to the range today and fired over 100rds with no malfunctions. Finally get to shoot my like new TC Classic.

Do the R-55's suffer from the same chip issue? I read every post and found conflicting info. If they do, is the procedure the same? One poster mentioned that the classic and R-55 were very different inside.
