I am shooting in a club revolver comp tomorrow and I had a hard time finding any .38 spl for the Ruger GP100. I will be shooting PMC's. Not my first choice but at least I will be shooting. I got lucky and bought the last two 50 count boxes out of 5 places I checked.

I need to bust out the old reloading press that has been packed away for 6 years. I've got the supplies to reload many different calibers, but the powder is 6 to 7 years old though. I dont know what the shelf life is?

Mike

No ammo in Phoenix

I live in Phoenix Arizona the 5th largest city in the country and I canít find any 38 Special, 357 Magnum or 9MM anywhere. I have been to about 6 Wal-Martís, Cabalas, Sportsman Warehouse and several independent Gun Shops and they are all out. Good thing I have plenty but I sure would like some more.

According to the news all of our ammo in Arizona is going to the Mexican Drug Cartels.

Sorry, didnít mean to start anything with that. I know it is BS but that is whatís in the news and if itís in the news it must be true right?

No, CCSC.

But I am planning on joining the club in Milford. Our club is mainly a shotgun club (skeet), but they do have other shoots very infrequently. Never any rimfire.

MRPC looks very interesting. Are you a member?

Thanks
Mike

Hey Rico, just a term for the internet.

As far as where the ammo is going , who knows. Maybe some hording going on , maybe the manufactures have cut production for what ever reason, maybe its all going to the military. Don't know would just like to get some, at least 500 rounds for each caliber I have as stock then a few more boxes for practice.

But I do know right now kinda hard to find any caliber, especially the more common ones. Maybe I need to buy a not so popular caliber? .22 mag is looking kinda interesting, LOL.

I have every intention on joining, I have just been really busy with work lately. I have already discussed getting off early on Wednesdays for the RF benchrest shoots. I need to get busy and enroll so that I can go through an orientation before its starts up in late April.

Thanks for the info.

Mike

Hey, guys, it's the same story here.
I live 25 miles away from my friendly "neighborhood" gun shop. (Rico, we don't even have a stoplight here in my hometown. ) It's a great little place, run by a real Mom & Pop plus their son. I can request just about anything, and they will order it for me. Only problem is, they just don't know when they'll get it. They don't carry any "match" grade .22 ammo, just the common stuff, and that's mostly hunting ammo. (CCI MiniMag, Velocitor, CB's, and Blazer, Win SuperX, Federal 510 and 711, etc) Last year, I asked them to order a couple bricks of CCI Standard Velocity for me. They ordered several, and it has sold pretty well. Now they try to keep it on hand. Until it went out of production, they kept all the PMC rimfire in stock. They also try to keep a good supply of centerfire ammo, but it's been kind of "hit and miss" since the election. For instance, I bought the last 2 boxes of 150 grain, .300 WinMag, that they had. That's been over a month ago, and they haven't been able to get any more in. They still have plenty of 165, 180 and 200 grain, though.
You have to realize that November 5th was the best day of sales that they have ever had. (in 12 years of business) And, it's been really busy since then, too. Example: This past Tuesday, I stopped by for about an hour. When I walked in, there were 4 Bushmasters (M4) and a Colt AR-15 (A2) on the gun rack. During the short time I was there, 3 of the Bushmasters sold. It's been the same with ammo. During that same time, they sold 2 cases of .223 and a case of 9mm, plus numerous boxes of several other calibers, both rifle and pistol.

I usually shoot Wolf M/T at paper, and I buyit, by the case, from a reloading supply that is over 100 miles from here. (but he's had trouble getting it lately)

The local wallyworlds typically only have a limited assortment of .22 bulk box stuff, CCI MiniMags, and occasionally a few boxes of centerfire on the shelf. With the exception of Federal AutoMatch and Win 333, I don't buy much at ww.

I went to a gun show in St. Louis yesterday, the ammo was there but so expensive I only bought a three bricks of .22 and a couple things of CCI green tag for $50. I didn't think that was too bad but the centerfire pistol ammo was crazy high, but people were scooping that stuff up by the arm loads....
