best shooting .22 mag ?

Cost aside, what would be the best road to the most accurate .22 magnum
hunting rifle..

Don't want a bench type rifle but one that you can carry comfortably. Say, no more that 8 lbs...

A bolt repeater ..

Anyone explored this.. I understand that ammo is somewhat limiting...

Anzchutz 1516

I guess the first that comes to mind is the anzchutz 1516, little over 1k and 6.39 pounds. You would be well under 8 with a quality scope.

Bought a RAR .22 WMR short barrel; put a 4-12 X 50 adjustable parallax scope on it: my 15 year old granddaughter puts 9 rounds in a 1 1/2Ē circle repeatedly.
Iím 76, so canít duplicate her, but even for me itís very accurate.
I did take it totally apart and polished all the bolt innards & outside; did the trigger thing on this site; 2 1/2 lbs; very smooth bolt and trigger.
Everyone whoís shot this canít believe how good it is for, regardless of the price.

RAR 22" barrel. If you read some of the posts under other 22wmr threads I think you will find these rifles are way above what you would expect in this price range when it comes to accuracy. Accuracy aside, you have a great trigger, modular stock and the 10/22 mags. Need I say more. Ok, if you insist, all for a little over $200.

If you can find a CZ 452, grab it. The CZ 455 would be my second choice.

Highly recommend the Anschutz 1516. I was able to get one half inch five shot group at one hundred yards with the Hornady V Max ammo. Well worth the money. Savage got me about an inch.

I've got a RAR Compact and it will do MOA with Hornady 30 gr. My Henry SGC will do close to MOA with Federal 50 gr.

THe best shooting 22 mag i have is RAR, it likes the heavy bullets 40-50 grains.

i also enjoy my 455, 512 and henry all in 22 mag... for a knock around truck gun you can't beat a RAR.. it is the most accurate 22 mag i have...
good luck

CZ 452.....mine is a Lux, but don't think model matters. I'm quiet happy with the cost of the gun - less than half of what an Anschutz 64 action would cost, the quality, and the accuracy. A joy to carry and shoot.

Five shot groups at 100 yards:

Pump, looks like you have an outstanding rifle... Good shooting..

I have a 455 that won't touch that kind of accuracy.

Thanks for all the responses.. Please keep them coming..

I've really want to get a shooter !

Ruger and Savage both make fine rifles. That being said I'm partial to Marlin. I like tubefed rifles.
1. No magazine to get lost or forgotten.
2. No magazine hanging out of the stock.
3. The tube mag holds 13 rds vs 4 or 7 from a box mag.
4. Marlin has micro groove rifling which makes them very accurate.
5. My 783 will shoot CCI 40 gr hp in 1/2" at 100 yds.
6. Marlins typically cost around $200.
