Figured I aught to at least get a pic or two before I start with the "customization.."

I've been able to put around 500rds through it - a mix of Federal Bulk, CCI Blazer, CCI Standard Velo and Remington Subsonics.. My gun cycles all of these fine.. Put 150rds of Rem SS today and had 3 FTF's which I can't blame on the gun.. She's been almost flawless.. This is an older gun and the newer stainless bushing, slide stop, etc are headed to me.. ATI is replacing these items for free..

Here are few of how my GSG looked this afternoon.. She doesn't look quite like this anymore...

Id say skip them both and find a good used Smith 422,622,2206,2213,2214 all excellent 22 pistols.

Caution on "customizing" GSGs. I wanted mine set up just like my 1911. Although a 1911 MSH, hammer, grip safety, and safety lever fit, and it looked good, the gun would not function reliably with them. Probably could have been made to work with a bunch of custom fitting. I put the stock bits back on and sold it. Selling all the extra mags (6) I had on GB, if anyone needs some.

If you get the chance to hold both a GSG 1911-22 and a Chiappa 1911 .22 you'll feel a difference in weight (GSG feels heavier) and quality of the build (GSG feels better).

The overall consensus from reviews and forums is that the GSG 1911-22 is a better gun than the Chiappa. Ironicly, the Chiappa was almost $50 more at the store I visited today than the GSG 1911-22. I picked up a used GSG 1911-22 (not even a month old) a little over a week ago and I'm very happy with it.
