Cool " a light colored nutter "

yea, all,

just wondering if walnut is always dark, or are there variations. started
sanding a walnut stock past the factory stain and is coming out a nice lighter
colored wood which is what i wanted.

this is supposed to be "turkish walnut" looks like it will take nicely to a med
colored stain since the stock sanded is kinda light. only sanded about a foot of
the forearm and did a quick stain job as a test and is a lot lighter than the
factory stained color which i didn't care for.

and, i think the stain and some Tung-oil will bring out more of the grain that the
factory finish was hiding,

It will darken some again when you finish it. To get an advanced look, wet the sanded area with mineral spirits. Tru-oil will look like that.
