Does anyone know of an aftermarket manufacture for 597 stocks? Or maybe have a factory stock sitting around?

Bart- sorry to eat up space on your site. Maybe someday when you have a question I can be just as helpful to you.

Ive used the search. I know about Boyds- dont like spending as much on a stock as I did the rifle. Just hopin theres one in a corner somewhere.

What version are you looking for? Laminated, synthetic, wood.
Heavy bbl or sporter bbl.

Well, sorry, but if you searched then that is about all of your options right there. HOWEVER, if you are willing to wait (many many months) for one, I bet just about any stock maker that makes 10/22 stocks could inlet one for the 597. You will probably be waiting awhile, though.

Factory stock? Are you looking for laminated right or the synthetic?

btw, if you indeed searched, you would know that there is more than just boyd's.

Check Brownells. (brownells.com) I get a lot of parts for customizing from them, including 597 parts. I know they have a "597 .22 Stock Assembly" but I am unsure if that is what you are looking for. Usually the laminate are listed as such, and have a different part number. This one on their web site does not specify laminated, so I don't know. There is also a thumbhole one on ebay right now, with no reserve you might get lucky enough to pick up cheap. Doing a google search, the cheapest on I have found otherwise is $190. Good luck.

Well, heres the story.
I bought this thing from a guy whose boy tried to make it an assault rifle.
The kid sawed the stock off and it looked like he use a butter knife to do so. He also tried to modify its from semi auto to other by some rather interesting tinkering. It would do so, but it was not stoppable and the gun had to be slam fired to start the process. Anyways the guy asked me to disassemble it and sell it for parts, I gave him $20 for it.

SO far everything has been returned to stock with some old fashioned TLC and elbow grease.

I took the modified stock and added an ar 15 grip and collapsible buttstock. Looked really nice. A guy offered me about double what I had in it, so I took it.
I just need something to replace it. And thanks to Zippyhuntin, it looks like Ill be able to. Shoot, might even make this another AR wannabe.
