Anyone know all the different aftermarket barrel makers who reproduce the 455/457 barrels? I know of Lilja, Whistle Pig and Bartlein. Any others? How about individuals who make them from barrel blanks? Thanks.

I have a barrel that I would like to have made into a 455/457 barrel. Any thoughts.

BRNO/CZluvr:

Just thinking but, from what you said above, it sounds like you need a very competent gunsmith to "work/fit" your barrel as opposed to "who makes a barrel".

If action fit and barrel "blank"profile are needed then you need a real working gunsmith with a full machine shop set up.

I'm just trying to find out what drop in barrels are available and yes, a gunsmith who can machine my barrel. Actually it's a take off barrel from a BRNO model 4 parts gun I have. I want the chamber and threads cut off, rechambered (match chamber), recrowned and machined to fit the 457 MTR or 455 Varmint actions. I want to leave it as long as possible so both front and rear BRNO sights can be used. Should be one of a kind. Does this sound crazy?? Or just a dream?

BRNO/CZluvr:

Hey, if you have the check book, nothing is crazy. But, like I said, find a really good smith who has experience fitting/adapting barrels and cutting chambers.

I pick up a 457 American today and will be swapping on a Lilja 17 Mach II barrel in a couple of weeks. Its just money ya know..... LOL

Good luck with your project.

Lothar-Walther makes 455 barrels, and I believe they come standard with a threaded muzzle.
