Colt Woodsman .22lr

I have a Colt Woodsman bought in 1958 in the box with papers that's said by my family to never have been fired. The box has the sales slip of the cost new $69.30.
I have been told to sell it for my mother-in-law. What should I ask for?

You might look at gunbroker.com and go to "completed auctions". Perhaps there is the same or a similar such gun that recently sold. Additionally, you may want to pose your question on the Colt forum.

A BIG plus one to that thought. Keep it in the family.

WRT Gunbroker's completed auctions, I seriously doubt that you'll find anything comparable to what you have. NIB with all paperwork from 1958 is rare and VERY desirable to a serious collector. The value will be considerably more than normal for that model without the extras.

Ask her if you can buy it for $500. While it might bring more on the open market, keeping it in the family would be a good idea.

I agree that you should keep it in the family as a safe queen.
Someone wanted it as a “collector” piece. Keep the tradition going.

See if your local library has a copy of the Blue Book of Gun Values.

You can also go to the Blue Book site and pay a fee to access the book, or pay like $2.95 for access to just the listings for a particular model of gun.

I am agreeing with the group, here. Keep it, learn it, love it. It's too nice, man....don't let that get away.

If you do....search for someone who is gonna treasure that. It's an incredible set piece.
