I've been breaking in my RAR Target and shooting some different ammos. I got some Lapua Center X and tried that out to see if it was vastly better than CCI S. V.

First pass, I say yup - it's better. This was also my first go at using the OnTarget software calculator so that wasn't real smooth.

In the upper left is the first ten rounds of Lapua Center X after being accustomed to CCI S. V. The top right hand group was the second ten rounds after a scope adjustment to get them into the gray area.

It would be interesting to see what a second group of 10 from the CCI-SV would look like.

Looks like the two rounds use different lube, so it would take a number of shots to “settle in” between brands.

The CCI looks good, but with one or two fliers.

What is the difference in price per round?

Just tried a couple of boxes Lapua Center X 22lr. Similar improvement results from my RART vs CCI ST. Local price for CCI ST is $3.98 50 rounds, had to piggyback on another order for the Lapua at $12 box of 50
7.96 cents per round CCI ST
24 cents per round Lapua Center X

The Lapua shoots as good better than my tries with Ely various grades. KM

In the RART give the Wolf Match Extra a shot. Mine liked it better than the Center x. In the Ruger Precision it was just opposite.

Cost is a factor, no doubt. The CCI SV is about $.05/per and Lapua about $.25/per. You're right about the second group of CCI - I should have shot a second group...I had room for it.

I'll look for the Wolf Match Extra...I've seen other posts that talk about it favorably.

OLD Wolf ME was good stuff, Made by Sk Jagd / lapua, New stuff is made by eley, Which I have not tried yet. Try the Sk rifle match ammo. I think you will like it.

Thanks - I'll look for the SK. So many ammos' to try - that's a lot of range time

In my guns, the old Wolf ME was just a hair better, and probably within the margin of shooter's error, than SK Pistol Match Special, so that may be a good substitute if the new Eley Wolf does not perform for you like the old one did.
