At the cost I'm not sure there are a lot of people who are going to invest. I love mine. It shoots the 25 grain that my Bmag likes at just over 2" @ 200 yards with a digital scope.

They seem to have come down a little in price but $1275 for the 16in rifle and $1300 for the 20in. rifle is still up there pretty good. Cheapest I've found the 20in HB upper is $955. That still seems like a lot for just an upper receiver.

Franklin Armory 17 WSM Uppers

I am unable to find 17 WSM uppers only listed on the Franklin Armory website, only complete rifles. Have they discontinued the uppers only? Haven't tried to contact them to find out yet. Vic

I know of three different places that have complete uppers ranging in price from $955-$1072. I'd be happy to pass the information along if you're looking for one.

What older posts are the ones you are speaking about?

I have a custom Franklin Armory F17-M4 on order. Should be here in a week or two.
Here are my upgrades:

Billet upper and lower in OD green.
Release Fire System upgrade.
One extra magazine.

I'm topping it with a Leupold 2.5x-8x-36mm.

I wanted it to be as handy as possible as I never bench hunt. I'm always moving. I will post a review as soon as I've taken it out a couple of times.

That's good to hear. I'm even more excited now. Glad you are getting excellent results from the 16" barrel

im still waiting to decide on the franklin f17l in billet...just not sure of the track record regarding the accuracy of the ammo....i dunno...

I do have a Franklin Armory billet AR in .223 that I built, with a JP Enterprises barrel, and buffer spring, which I absolutely love...

I almost 100% sure it is not an ammo issue but an issue with the B-mag which was the first rifle chambered in 17 wsm. The rifles were horribly inconsistent from one to the next and thus leading alot of people to believe the 17 wsm was an inaccurate cartridge.

There is a huge difference between SAMMI chamber dimensions and SAMMI case dimensions compared to actual production 17WSM case dimensions and this doesn't take into account production ammo component variations.

I would say that originally there must have been an ammo issue as Winchester replaced 10 bricks of mine.
I'll also say that the Bmag has a very loose chamber. As witnessed by a friend of mine out of the Bmags the fired cartridges were covered in soot, out of the Franklin there is none of that.

I have a Franklin upper with the bull barrel. It is a shooter. Easy under 1" at 100 yards. I also have a Cabelas Bmag. I put it in a boyds stock and a few other things. The Franklin will still out shoot it. Only issue with the Franklin is it is heavy. I was thinking of sending the barrel out to get fluted but not sure if that would make much of a difference. Get a Franklin. They are a ton of fun and great shooters.
