I've never owned or been around one, until now. Trying to piece a parts gun back together. Just about got it. But I have one question. When the striker is cocked, I can pull the toggle open about 1/4" or so, and it stays in place unless I either push it back closed or pull the trigger/engage the sear. Is this some sort of de-cocking feature, or do I have a recoil spring problem?

I think that is a quirk of the toggle mechanism and not a safety feature. Try a better grade of lube.
