Here's a couple of more 144LSB's:
# 930732A, red peg rt side, no green, Acru grov, Lyman front no rear.
#930758, red ped rt side, no green, Acru grov, Lyman front, Mosbg S331 rear.
both appear to be walnut, were picked up 20+ years ago used.

Just got my newest GunBroker treasure today. 144LSB, s/n 591622, no pegs, looks like walnut, no sights, AC-KRO-GRUV rifling, no visible warnings other than 22lr only. Heavy (.875) barrel was cut back to 21" and nicely target crowned. Butt pad was replaced with a soft rubber pad. Quite interesting to see a barrel band up front, what with all the conflict over the affect they may have on accuracy. Haven't had a chance to see when it was born.

Hey Roscoe, I got your message, and I either sent you an answer or ordered a pizza to the White House; I'm not sure which. Let me know if I messed it up. The party that put the rifle up on GunBroker mentioned a reason for cutting the barrel down as needing to meet length and weight restrictions for whatever type of matches he (or his kid) was shooting. I've been able to set it up and shoot it, and I'm quite pleased with it! I'll try to get some pictures soon.

Purchased several yrs ago from original owner

Sorry, I have an LSA

No Sn
red peg left hole but no peg right (hole there but empty)
walnut with white spacer butt plate
front Lyman 17A MI
Rear Moss S331
AC-Kro Yes
Warning NO
UNK original date but believe OO said it was in 67
Condition is original and like new with a couple of stock dings. Has competition sling that I will someday remember how to reinstall.

OT, Front site is loose enough to remove with fingers only, slides in to left and stops but not stable. What is the original remedy?

Unless I am missing something, my 144 has no serial number.

If it's a 144LS, it won't have a serial number. Production of the LS model stopped in 1960, becoming the LSA, which won't have a serial number either (at least the earlier ones). Serial numbers weren't required until 1968.

144LSB serial number survey

Just bought one on GB.com $340.00.
#233703 one red one green (missing) no warning, original sights (17A and S331)
Lyman can full of inserts, scope grooves, white spacer at butt plate. Just refinished stock and completely cleaned it as it was filthy dirty and some light rust. Looks like a new rifle now.....will shoot it tomorrow.
