My 144LSB:
No serial number.
Walnut
Red peg, green is missing and will be replaced.
Acquired in February, 2012, from Martin B. Retting in Culver City, CA, one of the last of the old breed of B&M shops.
Standard sights. Complete Lyman 57 rear sight. Front sight only missing inserts, they have been replaced. Receiver grooved for scope.
The front hand stop is complete. Sling swivels are complete, no sling.
The butt plate and the finger grip have both shrunk. I'll heat and bend the finger grip back into place. I might suppliment the butt plate with a new one.
Blueing and stock both in good condition. This rifle has all it's original parts, except the front inserts. It has been well taken care of for approx. 45 years.

S/N 233716, 2 holes no pegs, walnut stock. The stock was cracked and I recently bought a used 144LSB stock that is walnut with 1 peg hole for the safety position. However, it has a red peg.

Serial number 141241, red and green pegs (assuming because the holes were empty, but had red and green marks beside the holes), walnut stock.

Both front globe sight and receiver sight look original. Hand stop and swivels are still attached.

I have serial #1341096, acquired March 2012 from an estate along with a 1983 mfg Marlin Golden 39a that does not have a cross-bolt safety. I would assume they were both purchased by the original owner around the same time. Both guns are beautiful and complete so I would assume they were purchased new and well taken care of. The 144LSB has a few minor scratches and handling marks while the 39a is absolutely mint.

Here's the specs on the 144LSB. It has one red peg and the stock appears to be walnut. The receiver is grooved for scope mounts. The rear sight is a S331. The front sight appears to be unmarked. I assume it is the original Lyman.

Just bought a LSB SN 1341819 today. It is in very nice shape rated EXC by the dealer and came with a Bushnell scope and the front sight. Rear sight missing.
Looks like a walnut stock and one red dot safety.
I was talking on another non gun board about guns last night when I decided to check the used guns online at my local dealer. There she was for $295

It's paid for but I don't have it in my hands yet, due to the State Police PICS system being down this afternoon. So if I get time tomorrow or early in the week I'll stop in and pick it up.

Now all I have to do is find the correct rear sight for it.

I had one of these at twelve years of age and traded it in when I was sixteen for a Winchester 1200 12 gauge. It was the only gun I have ever traded or sold in my life. Years later I regretted trading it and wished I had it back again.

mossberg 144lsb today

birch I think, red & green posts, correct sights, and old scope. S/N 20223B. I dont know if it had ever been taken down and cleaned properly. Seller said it was extremely accurate. It was his squirrel gun until he quit hunting.
Had another number electro etched into the receiver. Research proved it to be a SS number and DOB & DOD.
Has no indication of Micro Groove but it looks like it probably is. I hope it is, if it is not then the rifleing is shot. LOL

I am having trouble getting the bolt back in, followed all directions and still cant get it in. Any ideas? I cant get the flat portion down and still have the bolt handle inline with the receiver slot.

Is your bolt in the closed position?
