Oh and since this is the long barreled Buck Mark thread, I also need a longer t-wrench in 7/64" for my 9 7/8" varmint bbl.

Can't find a longer t-wrench than 6" on the Wiha tools site. Maybe a hex l-key wrench?

I'm back to square one with my Buck Mark Varmint (formerly a Camper) build. I have decided against the Aimpoint 9000SC and am looking for suggestions on rings and scope / reddot.

What do you run on your long barreled Buck Mark?

Regardless of barrel length, my current favorites are Ultradot Four (for a tube-type dot) and the Doctersight (for a holo type).

If your shooting will require adjusting the dot for different ranges, the Ultradot Four would be a better choice due to the Doctersight not having "clicks" for adjsutment....................chim

Thanks chim. The ultra dot four is on my list of possible purchases.

No Hunter grip yet, but here's my Camper + 9 7/8" Varming bbl / rail:

Anyone find a 7/64" t-wrench long enough for the long barreled Buck Marks, or do you just use an L-wrench hex head? I have a 6" Wiha tools t-wrench that works with my 5.5", but does not work on the 9 7/8" Varmint bbl, and Wiha tools does not have one longer than a 6".

a "ball end" hex wrench of any length will work. Just break it loosewiththe short end, then tilt the wrench a bit and spin it out with the ball end.

Here are some pics of my long barreled Buck Mark Camper with a 9 7/8" Varmint bbl, and some other pics thrown in. I have sinced changed my mind on the Varmint build and returned the bbl for a refund. I'm thinking of sticking with the stock 5.5" bbl and threaded 4" TacSol bbl, or getting a 7.25". Decisions decisions.

f.2, Why not keep the Varmint barrel and get a second camper frame at a later date? My 4" tacsol barrel, grips and rail are sitting idle until I can get another Buckmark.

BLUElixir,

I know, that's what I would have done in the past, but my tastes are changing and I'm getting more particular with my gear - so more stuff getting sent back for refunds or being sold.

Actually what happened was I am sidetracked by a case of the bolt action centerfire precision rifle bug. That, and knowing I'd have to get a scope for the Varmint and my bolt actions need mounts, rails, optics, bottom metal, etc., etc., etc., times 2 at that!

I just put a brand new pair of walnut hunter grips I just got from Browning, right hand, on my Camper and man they are thick. A death sentence for me as I don't like thick grips. They would work if I shot bull'seye style - one hand.

I got them really dark and nice with 7 coats of pure tung oil with at least of day of dry Las Vegas weather to dry them out between coats. They are beautiful! But, I took them off and put the stock black rubber ones and am happy as can be again.

I will sell them for a good deal if anyone is interested [ looks both ways..., pm me ].

Grips are listed for sale in the classified + handguns + parts board.
