I mounted my Burris 4x12 mini rifle scope on my 10/22 Charger with Leupold medium rings. I centered cross hair adjustments. It shoots 5” high. I moved front rings to rear and rear to front. Now it shoots 5” low. What should I do? Should I get Burris Signature rings with adjustable inserts? HELP!

Before changing rings try turning them 180° and remounting. If that doesn't work the Burris Signature rings are the way to go.

Could try a pop can shim to help center the hairs.

Assuming you did not change anything else, then it has to be that one of your Leupold rings puts the tube at a different height than the other. That should not be. I would try different rings.

I always recommend Burris Signature rings, for various reasons.

Now that I think about it, when I swapped end for end I did rotate the rings 180 degrees. I think I will just order some Burris Signature rings with inserts. It will be best route. Thanks

I vote with SavagePlinker. It sounds like the rings are not the same height. I would let Leupold know. That is a major mistake and could damage the scope.

Talked to gun store that I bought rings from. They gave me a few ideas. Will take them off and do some measuring and see what I find. If not same will replace.

I called Ruger and they had me return gun for evaluation. I sent it back Sept. 4 and received new gun today. Mounted my Burris 4X12 mini and went to range everything is great. Plus this gun shot 5 different brands better. Thanks Ruger. Couldn’t be happier. Ruger customer service was great.

Wow, that is great!
Did you mount up the scope with the same ring set? Seemed from the swap around change the first gun that those were wonky.

Good deal. If it were me I'd still be blaming the scope or rings and trying to figure out which.

I used the last set of rings I got. Used same scope as tried on first gun. I can’t believe I spent so much time changing rings and scopes. When I looked at old targets my shots were always low. I’m glad that’s over, it was driving me crazy. Now I can enjoy shooting.
