Once you remove the rear sight base, is there a step in the barrel where it is located?

Also, How do You remove it?

Thank You,

Jerry

You can remove the elevation ramp & sight from the 452 rear sight fairly easily, as noted in the link above, but as I understand it, the "base" of the rear sight is not intended to be removed. I think it is more or less permanently affixed to the barrel at the factory. CZ experts can correct me if I'm wrong.

NoNewTricks,

I think he was asking about the base, not the leaf.

jerryd,

I discussed removal of the rear sight base in this thread, as it was canted and we had to remove it to align the rear sight. Read the first post.

Yes, there is a step in the barrel contour at the rear of the sight base.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have questions.

Of course you’re right. I read the question wrongly as wanting the leaf removed. Thanks for the correction. I remember reading your write up about the canted base and what it took to fix.

No worries, thanks for jumping in and providing a quality reference.

I really wanted to get photos with the rear sight base removed. I had scoured the internet for photos and information, but only came up with a couple of sources. It'd have been nice to add to the collective knowledge. Many people have asked about removing the sight bas, but I don't think many have actually done it. At least not after finding out what's underneath.
