Cleaning Patches

I take 1.5" square patches and cut em in half, .75" wide and 1.5" long. Use with a .22 Jag and seems to work great. 1" will go thru with cleaning solution but dry they wont fly. I have started pushing two wet 1" and followed by three dry .75s. Use nothing but tight woven Cotton.

A lot of the other shooters at matches use a .17 rod and jag and push 1.5". Most use round patches but I cant see the benefit. I think the .22 jag makes for a tighter fit and cleans better. The third dry patch comes out spanking clean and could be used again. I buy mine by the bulk, 1000 count. Cleaning after every card and shooting from 6-10 matches a month, along with practice almost every day I go thru a lot of em.

Here's what I consider a perfect fit. I use a 20 cal. rod with a 17 cal jag and a 1 1/8" square patch. Just the right amount of snugness and no need to pound the rod down the bore and taking a chance to damage the barrel.

OP-

Try the 1" round patches. They go through my Anschutz 54 and each of my CZ's dry or wet.
