If you only have the unertl style blocks, a EGW or Nightforce scope base (0 MOA or 20 MOA) will work. I'm running a Nightforce 20 MOA on a 52B Bull Barrel with good success.

Can't say about Nightforce but EGW does make an all steel rail that uses the existing rear barrel block screw holes.

I have an EGW aluminum rail on my H&R M-12 and I've mounted a Weaver T-36 on it. Works well so far.

I have the same mount for my 52's, my only complaint is that the scope needs to come back some more to suit me. I need to look into offset rings.

My T-36 Weaver has enough length to mount it for a comfortable cheek position on the stock without "crawling".

However, I can see where shorter scopes could present a problem.

Don't see it being a big deal for a company to make a longer base extending rearward and machining a piece that can connect it to the peep sight mount like the Vianni mount. It could be slotted to account for slight variations in peep mounts.

I had an original Vianni and since it was designed to allow the peep sight to also be used with the mount on it didn't allow scopes to be mounted back far enough without scrunching up a bit closer. Great design but hard to make a do everything mount.

I kinda used the Vianni mounting design for my 50moa mount but eliminated the flat area for peep sight clearance and was able to move the rear ring farther back.

I like the simple and sleek concept of the scope mount but why mount the scope so high above the line of bore?

Well, it was the first mount I ever tried to make. Wanted it to be 50moa angle and wasn't sure about clearances.

I'm also clueless about machining something. I'll be the first to admit when I make something I remove metal till what I'm wanting appears. I started whittling away on a chunk of metal and made changes till it was finished.

Amazed me it fit and was what I wanted. As for the height, yes it is taller than probably need be but it's just about perfect height when we get behind it. Got lucky I guess.

Great job Topstrap. You should sell those. I bet there’d be guys lined up like they were when Vainni was still making them.

I just ordered a Picatinny rail base supposedly for the 52 from optics planet. Should be here in a few days. I’ll post some pics after I get it together if it works.
