Recently Purchased 22 WMR CZ 455 FS

I recently purchased A CZ 455 FS in 22 WMR but from another dealer for about the same cost. Put a Nikon Prostaff II 4 x 14- 40 mm scope. Yet to shot it.

If people are interested in a review, etc. let me know.

I have a 455 FS in WMR, and one in 22LR, and deciding if i want a a Separate HMR,or just barrel swap the 22lr with an American HMR , or just buy the correct HMR barrel. Basically, $500, vs 0$ vs $150.

The fist option , ill have a complete set, plus the hmr American, part of a Two barrel set. The second , id have no fs in 22lr, but and American in 22lR, and the extra 22 barrel with Iron sights, in the closet.and the third, a correct 17 hmr , no fs 22lr, and the double barrel American , which id swap back to 22lr.

Decisions, Decisions...

I really like how the FS look and feel. But the 22 lr FS cant compete with my other 22lr CZs , a 453 Varmint and a 455 Varmint in a Klinsky stock. Probably because of the scopes, but as i dont like taking off the rear sights the fs is limited to lower magnification scopes that will fit behind the rear sight. I dont mind this limit on the WMR, cause the extra pop makes the gun more fun to shoot any ways, and i donít expect the bug hole accuracy of the 22lr out of the WMR, and as the HMR is similar id expect the same .

Probably going to go with option 3, but a full set of Full Stocks is appealing.

What do you think?

Now about low power scopes...is a 4-16x high enough for you?? if so then check out a Weaver Grand Slam 800650, 800654 or 800656 which are Duplex, EBX and Varmint EBX reticles...because they do fit behind a 452 and just about 2/3 of a 455 FS rear Tangent sight. My 452 FS.

The rear Tangent sight on a 455 is closer to the action than a 452 is so you have to slide the top part of the sight forward a little if you want to keep the sight on the rifle. I figured if I wanted to use the iron sights I would have to sight it in anyway...so I kept it all together. Signalman

Hey Toomany22s sir please live up to your handle here at RFC and go and get that 455 FS in 17hmr I love mine and you already know how they are. Changing barrels is ok but grabing a whole rifle is much better for friends and family to enjoy with you. I like to get mine dialed in and enjoy when you start changing things around there is a lot more work involved...if you have the time great I don't...I barely have time to shoot...have not done that in months. That is going to change really soon.

16 x isnt enough for me to shoot tiny little groups at 50 yards and enjoy it!

It is enough to shoot 16 1 inch Targets once at 50 yards and enjoy it.

Especially with the louder zippier WMR and HMR! Thats why The FS 22lr doesn't get much use.

And while i would prefer the Weaver, i have found the UTG 4x16 good enough to do the job., at a fraction of the cost

As i recall, you don't have a 22lR FS, maybe we could trade?

Toomany22s sir my apologies I forgot you already had a 4-16x scope...and no there will no trading of anything I own I am magnum guy...I love them and that is why I don't own any CZ rifles in 22lr at all and the last 22lr rifle I bought was a long time ago. I don't even look at anything in 22lr....no matter what brand they are.

To me FS's are "walking in the woods" hunting/field guns..... mine in .22lr .22 magnum and .223 all wear Leupold 1-4 x20 scopes...... 1X is ideal in Penn's Woods and 4X for varmints in the small fields of the Laurel Highlands.

That said my .22mag FS..... has shot numerous sub-minute groups at 100 off a sandbag........ generally it's a 1-1.25 gun.

My .22lr will do 1/2" at 50....... I don't stretch it out to 100 much.

Bench shooting I leave to the Trainers and Varmints w/ bigger scopes
