Cooey rifles are pretty good! I have a Model 82 which is their military trainer rifle and it is simple and quite accurate. Please let us know how it shoots. The Remington 510 is a nice rifle, too. Oh yes, and welcome to the asylum!

I have had my cooey since I was in grade school
Love that little gun!
I have it scoped and one day while I was doing benchrest I had it in the truck and decided to see how accurate it was.
Set up a target at 50 yards and first five shot group was 0.35 inches. Shot a second 5 shot group and it was a measured 0.35 on the same target!
'Oleeee Merdeeeeee!
Ok, lets see what this little guy can do so I shot 40 more rounds into the same hole and it was a 50 shot group in a 1/2 inch hole.
Ammo was wolf match target too.
I think mine is the model 60 with the fishbelly stock.
Love that little thing.

Most every farm boy here in Canada started off shooting a Cooey 39 single shot rifle - they were well built, inexpensive, and very accurate. When my oldest brother turned 10 (in 1965) Dad bought him a Model 60 repeater like yours to use on his trap line for muskrats and small game hunting.
My brother still has Dad's well used 39 all 4 of us boys learned to shoot with, his old model 60, and both his and Dad's Model 84 single shot 12 ga. shotguns.
I've got 2 Model 39s - one is a 1967 Canadian Centennial with the box that I got from my wife's Uncle Walter (it still had the grease in the barrel - only have about 20 shots through it) , the other 39 from her Uncle Herb (used around his farm), and a Model 60 that I found in an old outbuilding of the first house I bought. Years of abuse and neglect had made it unsafe (a hair trigger) but a quick trip to the local oldtimey gunsmith & $10 later for a used bolt we had it working as good as new. Still one of my favorite and most accurate 22's.
Cooeys were plentiful and cheap - in the mid 80's you could pick up very nice ones for $25-$30 at a gunshow - with collectors driving prices for nice examples going for well over $250 I wish I had bought several truckloads!
My local club was one of several clubs in Canada to host the second National Cooey Day this summer to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the H.W Cooey Machine and Arms Company.

Thanks for the info! It seems to be a well made gun, can't wait to shoot it.

these are extremely accurate based on my military trainer M82 , as a single shot i will put this up against most any in its class , the only difference between yours and mine , as i understand it , is the added stock bits to simulate the feel of an enfield no1 or no4 depending on the rear sight configuration , i have both on mine ,
i think you will be most pleased with these rifles ,
