Have a 52 pre A with speed lock that shoots well but stock is pretty beat up. I also have a 52 B that doesnít shoot as well but stock is in much better condition. Can these be swapped out. Iím not a collector , just like shooting pretty guns.

Define "pretty beat-up". I bought a Pre-A that someone had carved checkering in the wrist and forearm with a butter knife that took some time with a sanding block and stain and true oil to fix. stock is a little thinner now, but if you don't know that it has been repaired, you can't tell. Let's see a picture.

Actually you can i requires a little grinding inside the area where the magazine goes and possibly a little more elsewhere near the trigger area, but they will interchange having done so on this link where I had purchased a 52 in a shortened and modified stock and then purchased a B model stock, did the minor inletting and it fit nicely into it.Just takes a little patience and time with a small hand held grinder at low speeds

Big Larry is right. In addition to having to open up the trigger area the 52A has one action screw, whereas the B has 2

Correct, nothing like adding an additional action screw thru where the one for the B goes to improve accuracy on a A model, easy enough to do for a qualified gunsmith and enhances an already accurate rifle. It can be done if you have the willpower to do so

Haha, now I donít feel so bad. However, I did have the rifles in reverse. It is the 52B that is gouged. Thinking the same guy may have had the chance to shoot our rifles in the past and just got bored at matches. The 52b I bought has a failed attempt at checkering. Seems pretty deep and not sure I can sand out without really changing the lines of the stock.

Sorry. Meant to post left side also but screwed up. It looks sort of like the right pictured twice.

Yep, pretty sure you are right about the same guy doing the checkering, or at least his cousin or something. Still might be able to get the scratches out, wish I had taken before pictures of mine...
