Also, wish it detached from the rest of the upper like my Victory and Buckmark. Real PIA for me due to location of LGS and the need to use an FFL for everything Ruger. Really drives up the price. I just purchased a fluted, 7 1/4" bullseye target barrel for my Buckmark for $130, Amazon to my door. Will be over twice that for the Mark 4. Oh well, I'll still get one once VC and/or TK offer a trigger, and Ruger offers a heavy target barrel, D&T for optics only.

It seems that Ruger fixed one issue (take down) but not the others? Shame.
Whereas I am very happy that the barrel is not a separate piece. Less parts = less to go wrong...

There are now three threads on the Mark IV. Maybe they could be merged? The Mark IV will obviously be a new forum category anyway, right?

I've put an order in for one of these pistols, and I can't wait to see if there are any of the "goofy" modifications done to this new version Mark IV pistol that have been perpetrated in a few (hopefully forgotten) posts around here. My gut tells me...................NOT! [/QUOTE]

What kind of goofy Modifications were mentioned in the recent past?

They did fix more than the takedown issue. Now the magazine ejects freely and with vigor. There is also the ambidextrous safety. It's only been out for a day or two, the aftermarket will be huge for it and other models will quickly follow. I'm certain anything most people will want will be available within a few months.

By the time my tax stamps come there is sure to be more than one threaded model.

I think Ruger hit a home run with this Mk IV.

My LGS just called and said mine will arrive on Monday. Will get it to the range shortly there after?

Are there any real improvements other than easy to clean? That might be a big deal to someone buying their first 22 pistol, but other than that I didn't notice anything else. Perhaps because field stripping was so convoluted in the past, its a big deal to make it easy, like most other 22s? What am I missing?

It's legit

Wonder if the new Ruger Mk 4 is what they're giving away in their contest?

Touched one today

Put my hands on one today at the shop where I work. Stainless target model.
Take down could not be simpler. My MKIII is now obsolete. Hope to see 22-45s soon. Any word on those?

Picked up a MK 4 Hunter about an hour ago. Very nice. Takedown is slick. Much nicer safety and bolt stop lever. Uses MK 3 magazines.

Would you give your opinion about the trigger please?
