I have been plagued with misfires, sometimes as many as 8 in a row. And as for a hunt, it pretty well spoils a hunt.
I again went to my gunsmith pal and he took apart my bolt and we agreed the rifle bolt is fine.
We then pulled the bullet of a dud round, poured out the powder, and examined the primer material. Our discovery was there was almost no primer material with most areas, none at all.
I have been buying box after box of mostly duds because our local stores sell the old crap ammo. Notices to the stores has resulted in nothing.
I contacted Winchester and gave them the details and am waiting for their decision as for my problem. I have 10 or 11 boxes of the worthless fodder I can't depend upon.
Dang buddy, I hate to hear this about your ammo! Keep me posted, At least the squirrels are the only ones happy right now!
Rick
One strange thing, through email exchanges, the Winchester person said they won't make allowances for the 2 boxes of Federal ammo. Is that strange, or what? I am still going to send the two boxes of Federal fodder with the other 8 boxes.
That is strange, since we all know they make it too! I wonder what the reasoning is behind that statement?
Thanks, ricky! She spent Tuesday through yesterday in hospitals but I got her home last night and all seems good. They did some more heart work on her.
I worked Monday and Tuesday and then found her in our local band-aid station when I got home from work. The hospital tried to call but my cell phone was turned off because of my job.
I hope you are killing a lot of dastardly squirrels!
take the ammo back and get a refund, not fit for use.
I put 400 rounds thru my 17WSM and a mate has recently put 400 rounds thru it also and in total we have had only 1 round fail to go off but it did on the 2nd strike
American Eagle 20gr by far the most accurate and reliable ammo out there.
Thanks, Al! She's getting better. They added 3 more stents and repaired a tear in an artery close to her heart, plus removed a clot. She has 27 stents.
I also contacted Savage and they are sending the parts kit to change out the old style safety on my BMAG.
I hope Winchester doesn't send a voucher for the bad ammo because the stores here all sell the old lot crap fail to fire ammo. I would rather receive replacement ammo from Winchester.

I'd call em up then. All they sent me were free coupons.

Thanks, ricky and Al! I received my free safety upgrade kit for my BMAG and am going to have it installed this weekend. And hope to unleash the rifle upon some dastardly squirrels.
