Have you located the code on the barrel to find the date it was made? Mine is from 1972 I think and yours is probably a little older since the front of the action is not dovetailed.
BTW, please don't sell that scope...You will regret it. BUT, if you do sell it, don't give it away. I think I sold mine (a 20X just like yours) for about $800.

I looked all over without taking the action out of the stock and couldn't find one. Is there a particular year they started date stamping the barrel?

The date stamps were made certainly by 1962, possibly a year earlier. The serial number indicates late fifties, perhaps 1960.

I can't see notches in the receiver ring for the barrel pins, so this must be a single crossways pin underneath. I'd say 1960 tops.

If the Unertl scope is in good functioning shape, you can easily resell it. Lots of guys ( like me ) still use them.

I'm going through the rifle and I'm curious why the anschutz sight distance guide is backwards?

By my records, about SN 256XX in 1961 I see barrel date codes starting.

Here's some more of the goodies that came in the box.
Rear butt plate with hook, sling with art, original palm rest, and bench rest attachment.
The crosshair in the Unertl scope is broken so I began taking it apart to DIY repair it. I have some titanium wire on order from flea bay. Although the crosshair is broken, the glass is crystal clear and looks amazing.
It's an easy DIY disassembly and repair. Take off these parts and remove the brass ring that holds the crosshair. Loosen the screws and then put on the new wire. I spent a couple days researching how to fix this and the process looks pretty straight forward.
Here's a close up of the broken crosshair. I'll put on new ones on when the titanium arrives and post an update.

Congratulations - that would seem to be a most excellent rifle. Also, compliments on your series of informative, detailed posts.

The mirror device is a bore sighting tool for an M2Garand rifle. It fits in the chamber, you look down the barrel and point the device toward a light source. A friend of mine bought a whole case of them at an army surplus sale.

I can not tell exactly which trigger you have but There are two possibly three that are very similar in appearance. A 1407-U9 and a 1408-U1, both which are two-stage triggers. The 1407 is a two stage "hair trigger" - this is the one that have seen as be able to be set from 8oz to 2oz. The other is a similar model 1408-U1 but that is a 500 gram or 1.1 lbs trigger. This was supposedly for those that wanted a heavier pull.
There is another version a 1408D which is a single stage 500 gram trigger.
My understanding is that the 1408D was intended for European competitions which regulated the trigger pull. I have a couple of 1407's and have the set for 8oz as 2 oz is just way too low for me
The two stage triggers I have seen have curved triggers but the trigger blade itself can be adjusted back and forth to tune it to your finger position. The single stage I have seen do not have that adjustment.

I must have the 1408D. The trigger adjustment procedure on page 5 of this manual worked for my gun and there is no adjustment for finger position. Whoever owned it before me had it way out of whack so it felt like a two stage.
Does anyone know if the 1407 or more modern triggers can fit on a 54 super match such as mine?

Yes, the 1407-U9 will fit an earlier Match 54 receiver. The spacing and thread for the mounting bolts is the same, and I think is still the same today.
A 5071 or 5075 trigger from a 1600 would fit with a little modification: trimming the catch cross pin, or relieving the action.
The 5018 trigger from an 18/1900/54.30 will not function as the catch-firing pin bent geometry is different.

As tim slater notes, the 14xx triggers will work. They include those shown in the illustrations below.
As tim also notes, the newer 5071 or 5075 trigger can be put on the older 54 receiver with a little modification -- a groove filed or milled on the bottom of the receiver (shown below) or modifying the catch cross pin.
