Unprovoked Shark Attacks

Log in to see fewer ads
One of our local reporters just commented on the number of
“unprovoked shark attacks” in the US this year.
Set me to wondering what a provoked attack might be.
Say something surly, like “you stinking, boneless, low-life,
chum-sucking %%%%%%%”.
Would that do it?

You are in their environment, it seems that it's provocation enough for them to lunch on you.

I think people who go out of their way to 'swim with sharks' are provocateurs.

We've got beau coup sharks around here. Can't remember the last shark attack.

There were bunches of them off the Florida coast a few years back, but attorneys were safe in the water. Not a single Lawyer was bit.

It's a professional courtesy, you see.

Many years ago, I saw a low-budget horror movie in which
a sea monster was killing people who were swimming at
night. (This was after the movie Jaws was a big hit.)
Early in the movie, two homicide detectives are looking
at the shredded remains of a teen lying on the beach. One of the
cops says “Maybe it was a wild shark”.
You know, as opposed to the domesticated variety.

The English language is so much fun.

Mute testimony to the increasing stupidity of "news" reporters and politicians.

Lake Pontchartrain has Bull Sharks, known to be very aggressive. People have been bitten in the lake.

The Gulf of Mexico has every kind of shark you can imagine, including the occasional Great White. It's not an ocean.

When river levels are low, I've caught Tiger Sand Sharks in the Mississippi River at New Orleans.

Finally: Not all swimming pools are shark free, as occasionally you can find a barrister in one.
