People in NH don't need no stinckin' jig.
Seriously, a jig to do that ?
I ran a rod thru the bore, marked where it hit the receiver, and drilled a hole.
Big deal.

The drilling jig just makes the job easier and it's free.
I used this jig to drill my receiver. No muss, no fuss and nothing like the monkey and the football.

MDL -

You are indeed exactly correct - certainly not a necessity by any stretch, I have drilled as many without the jig as I have with it. I will say it is easier and virtually fool-proof with the jig, though.

I am a firm believer in making things as easy on myself as possible, when possible. The reason I have three chests full of tools that aren't used nearly as much as they should.

I am very proud though, to have been assistance to over 250 RFC members who have chosen to drill over 411 receivers to date with the jigs that have been provided in this thread!!! Not that they need it, just that it has helped.

If I ever may of be any assistance to you, I hope you will let me know.

Very best regards,

John

Yes, I got drilled twice yesterday! I would not have but for John Crowley's efforts to serve his fellow RFC Members.

Simply stated, I'm impressed with John's regard for others. Undoubtedly he is a great neighbor.

I purchased one from the Gunsmither last year. Because of health and sight issues I haven't been able to use it UNTIL NOW. This weekend I will be drilling 6 of my 10/22 receivers FINALLY LOL. Then I will be able to also bed my stocks that aren't aluminum.

I think this thread is awesome. Offering those the use of the guide and drill bit is pretty cool. Thanks for your generosity.

I must say that the most enjoyable parts of this project have been the sheer number of participants, and their appreciation. I've always enjoyed helping others - this has been great to me.

Regards,

John

ATTENTION: Anyone requesting a jig recently

If any members have requested to participate in the receiver drilling jig thread recently and have NOT received a confirmation PM from me, please send me your information again. During one of the recent RFC server interruptions a number of my PM's have gone off into "neverland".

Anyone who has not gotten a reply from me, please resend your request.

My apologies for any inconvenience to any member.

Best regards, Happy Holiday and Joyous New Year to you all!!!!!!

John
