Many years ago, Marlin made a lot of deals to produce rifles & shotguns for
various department stores and auto parts stores...
Because they used whatever number the store designated, it led to
a fair amount of confusion in trying to figure out exactly what one really had!

Well, after gathering all the lists and books I could find on the subject, and
compiled the whole listing into ONE Easy-To Search reference!!
So here it is!! Hope this helps a few of ya out!
Definitely worth printing out and keeping in each of your cars for a handy
quick-reference!!
UPDATED for July 2018!

Lost Identity.

I got a used Higgins single shot from a pawn shop in MINT condition-didnt think too much about it.Then tried to figure out what exactly it is since my boy loves it and it does shoot and was thinking of a 22 mag in the same brand..Sears J C Higgins model 100.10 ,checked the numbers 3 xs and crayoned it to make sure.It has a Marlin butt pad on it and looks like a model 100 with out micro grooved barrel-which happens to be a bull barrel.

I do not see National Firearm Company listed, Marlin made versions of their early hammer pump shotgun under that name and also a version of the 22 hammer pump that was called the Martel - it was slightly different than any of the Marlin model of pump guns - solid frame like the 25 pump but in 22 S L & LR and it had a round top reciever which I think was unique to it for their pumps. I see then every so often and they might have been only distributed in this area - the upper midwest near Chicago and Milwaukee.

Sorry for the delay in adding more info, I started taking pictures but hit a technical problem. I do not have much info on these but the ones I have seen (4) all had been refinished or were in really bad shape - I do not know if they had a cheap finish when new or that I just happened to see only poorly keep examples. This one has a very poor cold blue looking refinish but you can see it's not in real bad shape. I don't like to buy refinished guns but I had passed on one that was worse than this a few years before and since I have had this I have not seen another.

Editing this in - in response to the next post; it's S,L,&LR, like a 20 - and has a solid frame with stock removal for takedown like an 18 or 25 - and has a forearm like a 29 - the rounded top of the receiver is unique, the few of these I have seen have all been this way. I have seen many more National shotguns (Marlin hammer models) but have paid little attention to them.

I have a Marlin single shot that was one of the first RF's that my Parents got me for a Christmas present. I'm not sure of the exact year but it would have been sometime in the mid 60's.

It's a Westpoint model 121 that was made by Marlin. It is marked for 22 short/long/long range !!
