What Brought Down JM Marlin?

So was it the last economic crash that took out Marlin around 2008? What is poor management? Was it a family squabble over cashing out inheritance? What caused JM Marlin to go out of business or sell after decades of successfully competing with Savage, Ruger and others in the American Market place for budget priced reliable firearms? I have an 880ss and 882ss. These still are hard guns to beat as simple rugged, utilitarian 22s and would still be able to compete against the Savage and Ruger line today. The JM 1894s and 39s were always great rifles built to high standards. Then Remington messed up the whole recipe of success by closing the original marlin plant and moving operations causing the quality of rifles produced under the marlin name to collapse. Who can gives us a brief synopsis of Marlin ownership through the decades till now? Seems like Freedom Group got in over their head with Remington and Marlin running both companies into the ground. Still hoping Ruger will bring back the marlin line but I fear they just bought out their competitor for the lever action line and to keep marlin rimfires off the market.

Frank Kenna Sr. passed away.

Nobody in the family wanted to run a firearm business. At the end Marlin production was garbage. Remington bought them and no matter what you think of Remington, or their parent company, They completely re-tooled production lines and brought Marlin into the 21st century. Now Ruger has the old plant and all the tooling. They will save the company (name) Marlin.
