A friend purchased a XT-22 and asked if I would scope it in for him. I have to say that it was the worst gun I have ever shot as far as trying to get good groups. I tried everything I could think of. I changed scopes, different ammo, played with the action screws, however since the stock was plastic couldnt do much with them. Just wondering if he got a dud, if Im missing something , or do they just shoot bad?
Do you have a wood or plastic stock? His is plastic and its hard to keep it free floated. I sanded some off on the right side to slide a couple of dollar bills between stock and barrel but after shooting some rounds its tight again. Thanks for the response.
What ammo have you tried? Sounds like a defective muzzle. Inspect it and look for a defect. A magnifying glass and a flashlight will let you look just inside the muzzle. If the rifling is mooshed on one side from a off center or damaged pilot it will play hell with accuracy. I got a bad Ruger and they replaced the barrel after I complained about the piss poor accuracy. Do you have a symmetrical powder residue pattern around the crown? If not, something funny is going on up front. If all looks good there, it may be bad ammo or a bad chamber but I bet it's the crown.
