New Glass for My 1712.....

Had a decent 3x9EFR on but felt it was never quite the optimum combo. Still a bit torn as I think it looks better than the 6.5x20 EFR but dang, is 50 yards just that much nicer. The nest raiding magpies have fled the yard, the first couple eyeball shots rattled their cage pretty good....... The Greys have made themselves right scarce, almost like they have ESP or something.

BTW- you might want to upgrade your trigger shoe to the one shown below made by Pete @ D3 Precision. He sells them on EBay. Much classier look and better feel compared to the OEM pot metal trigger shoe, which I never understood or liked.

Here’s a thread I posted a while back-

Edit- here’s a current link to the Anschutz trigger shoe on EBay, $28-

Thanks for the link DrGunner. Do you know how the width compares with the DIP trigger shoes.

I have a 1712 that I use for Silhouette shooting and the glass that I use is an older Leupold FX-3 25x40 scope. They are no longer made but I also have a Leupold VX-3i that I have on a different rifle but I would not hesitate to use that scope on my silhouette rifle if I did not already have the FX-3.

That trigger shoe is wonderful!!!!! I have one and I love it! I had to always reach for the OEM tigger shoe. I never really liked the OEM one and this trigger by D3 fixes my issues.I can slide it back and reach it easily. It made my 1712 much more enjoyable to shoot.

I have a 1712 with a Weaver V-24 on it, 6-24 with Varminter reticle. It's used for the most part to shoot sporter benchrest at one of our local gun clubs. The sporter matches are limited to 8X max.

I too have the trigger shoe but haven't installed it yet, the factory one is pretty cheap IMO.
