HM2 AR upper build -- any interest in barrels?

Does anyone want to join me in building an AR upper in HM2? Lothar Walther will make a run of barrels if they get three pre-orders.

Would anyone be interested (Depending on price, of course)? I'm thinking a 16.25" threaded 1/2-28 with as light a profile as possible. Most of their 22lr barrels run around $200, so I'm hoping for them to come in around that price.

My AR/HM2 Exp

I had one years ago by Ballistic Advantage. It was super accurate but had too many OOB discharges and moved on to a CZ 452 in HM2. I now have a Volq Summit in HM2 that I need to scope and see how it does. Still working on my old stockpile of Eley ammo but have ordered some new Hornady.

You didn't ask for advice but here it is anyway. Have patience when you work up spring strengths, buy extra springs and clip 1/2 coils then shoot until you get consistent extraction without split cases. Took me a few springs to find the happy spot.

One thing I always meant to try but never got round to was to drill out some holes in the bolt and insert/epoxy tungsten weights.

I'm planning to use this part to add 2.8oz to the bolt weight:

Where did you get the springs? I am still looking for a heavy spring.

I would be interested. But I want to see the bolt weight/springs correct for the 17m2 round. I know there were quite a few attempts at semiautomatic 17m2 rifles that didn't make it do to problems getting the dwell time correct and eliminating OOB

I ordered the heavy spring kit from Black Dog, so we'll see if I can get my hands on a barrel and get it to run properly without making other modifications.

Barrels are a go (pending two others who want one) -- 16" in length, threaded 1/2-28 and set up with a 0.750 gas block journal for those that want to run front sights at that location.

Anyone who is interested in the group buy can email [email protected] and let John know that you are wanting to pre-order the 17 HM2 - AR15 barrel.

17HM2 Barrel

I put in my request. Hoping for a couple more so the order moves forward.

From my casual count, that puts us at the three needed -- I imagine I'll be hearing from them shortly.

Is this still happening. What's the price on these barrels?

Yes! $269 for a stainless barrel. Email L-W if interested, we met the minimum to produce the barrels already, but they are making a few extra.

Will someone be assembling a parts list for a reliable Mach2 build?

For personal liability reasons I hope not.

Not a how to build list. A parts list that they used for their build that is reliable. It would be a build thread without the several pages of filler from other members.

Here's what I'm planning...

Slick side upper receiver
Lothar W barrel
CMMG bolt/collar
Bore Buddy bolt weight
*( heavier than stock recoil spring - if needed) TBD thru testing.

I intend to test my setup with both Black Dog and S&W magazines (on separate lower receiver setups).

Wish me luck?

If the LW HM2 barrels are anything like my LW 22LR barrel you will need to heat the receiver ring with a propane torch to get it to expand enough to accept the barrel shank. Slide it in quickly and forcefully so it seats with a "thunk" as it will be tight again in an instant. The LW barrel has an excellent interference fit with the receiver in my experience. A very thin layer of Aeroshell 64 on the barrel shank helps also.
