M22 ammo

Shot about 50 rounds of it today I've got about 1,950 rounds left. Out of my CZ it'll group 2 in a big 2 inches. I guess it's good plank and stuff but I definitely would shoot at an animal with it. Aquila standard ammo grouped better than CCI standard. But wolf SK centerx or unbelievable when it comes to accuracy out of this CZ 455 trainer.

Better made ammo usually produces better groups but m22 is total trash I wouldn't even shoot in my single six, much less my CZ rifles.

When it first came out it was much better ammo, however, after a couple years it went south in a hurry. You are lucky you got two inch groups and that you didn't have a bunch of misfires.

"Winchester M-22 ammunition was designed for use in AR platform Modern Sporting rifles" per Winchester's description . . . Maybe it works in that platform but along with Winchester 222-333-525 (bulk packs) is some of the worst ammo I have ever shot in my 22's. I acquired most of that Winchester ammo during the 2008 shortage but ended up giving all of it to our state's youth shooting programs. That experience prompted me to put all Winchester rimfire ammo on my "Never Buy Again" list.

As always . . YMMV.

I got a two-brick pack (1000 rd) during the 2013 shortage. I sat on it for quite some time, as at the time, I had a stash of Federal bulk packs that was my plinking stash. Almost 2 years ago, I decided that I needed to prune my plinking stash down, so I pulled the 2 bricks off my shelf and went to my club to blast with it.

Accuracy I was not impressed. Reliability, it was about what I expected from Winchester bulk (not a glowing opinion from MY 10/22's and MKII pistols).

I shot most of it up and one range day, after finishing up groups, discovering the joys of higher tier ammo (finally) I decided to finish off the last 100 or so rounds of that M22 I had.

Loaded up the "Ultimate Cliploader and prepared to just plink clay birds from the berm with my Volquartsen Scorpion. All was well for the first 96 rounds, then I get the overcharged round. It blew the magazine out, blew my last-round hold-open out, and my Volquartsen prototype "Slingshot mod" out of the gun. A bit shaken, thought to myself, "Well this sucks. " I then checked for 10 fingers, 2 eyeballs, and appropriate number of holes in my face. After verifying all numbers of items accounted for, I located the loose parts, packed up, and threw the last 3 rounds into the dud-bucket.

That just cemented my disdain at any winchester rimfire products.

Prior to shooting those bricks, I was very aware of the (recent at the time) product recall on 2 lot #'s but my boxes fell outside that range.
