Love the slabside model. Just got my mkii in slabside not knowing that they would make the mkiv. Looks like this is a very limited run; 1000 qty.

And you can get a nice Mark II slabside for less money, too.

For that kind of money, I'll buy a S&W model 41.

I note...

....that it is to commemorate Bill Ruger's 100th birthday. A grand plus MSRP, it should be a dandy.

Like already said. If I were to pay that much for a 22LR it would be a S&W Model 41.

Yep that is approaching full custom Volquartsen pistol or Scorpion. Interested to see a pic of it. I would possibly have interest in a Mkiv Government model, long barrel with the match chamber.......

Yes, this is a commemorative, limited production item and most are destined to be safe queens. It certainly isn't expected to sell to or be priced to attract the practical user.

Yah, but that price is MSRP! $1,065.00. Who pays that? They're not gonna sell for near that MSRP price. I know, I talked to Davidson's today, and got dealer price + shipping. These will be a special run for Davidson's only, but most likely, in a short period of time, the model 40108, if it keeps that model number, will become a regular factory run. I like it much better than the Hunter, or the shorter barrel target versions.

Hey, we were all much younger once, and how much was spent on "wild women and whiskey"?

I've already got a Smith & Wesson model 41 with the 7 barrel, and the Browning Contour with the 7 1/8 inch barrel. Neither of those pistols are overwhelmingly impressive to me. My Ruger Mark II & III Competition versions and the Government model Mark II shoot right along with both of 'em, the Smith & the Browning. Compared from a Ransom Rest, the slight difference in accuracy at 30 meters is so negligible, it doesn't even warrant mention.

You know, they did make a few Mark III Government Models, but for some reason, production was abruptly stopped. This Ruger Mark II Government version will not be going anywhere for quite a while. Since this picture, I have installed a steel trigger, reworked sear, front sight with insert and white outline blade rear. Did the work in late fall, so I couldn't find any "LEAFS" laying around.

SGW I like free women they didn't cost too much,

Ps I really like those Mkii Govs. I shoot the longer barrels much better. Hope to see a picture of the new one mentioned above. Wonder what the price will be?

I already know what the price will be with shipping. the distributor I deal with does not allow open accounts or CC purchases. I'll give you an email when I get everything together and it's delivered. Being that there's only a different barrel configuration involved, with less machining operations than what's involved with the Hunter type barrel, it should be quicker to produce these. Only 1000 will be produced as a commemoration to William Bannerman Ruger's 100th birthday, that is, if he were still taking phone calls.

On the list...

Contacted my LGS about the 1 of 1000 right after I saw this thread today. He is on the list at Davidsons for one from his rep. So if all goes well I may be adding one to the family!
