The Victory is a nice gun, but I think you're right. Looks as though the new Ruger will blow it away.

*I bought a S&W 22A-1 instead. Shoulda saved my money to get a Mark IV.
I don't know that the new ruger will blow away the victory, especially considering the victory (all stainless with fiber optic site) can be had for around $350. it looks like the stainless target model msrp is almost $700, and the hunter model is close to $800. obviously most will not be paying those msrp prices, but they wont be getting the IV for anything close to the price of a victory either. don't get me wrong, I'm not poo pooing the IV, but you get a lot of good in the victory for the price. to say the IV will blow it away is probably over the top.

Couple quick questions re: two big shortcomings (to me) of the Mark 3.?

1. Is the barrel still serialized?

2. s the barrel easily swapped?

Thx!

That does look nice.

My 1st 22 auto pistol was a MKI. I upgraded to a MKII 10" bull bbl in 1984 and haven't bought another in the line since.

It's easy to take them apart, but I do it so infrequently that I sometimes have to go to youtube to remind me how to put them back together.

Once you depress the rear button the barrel is allowed to rotate forward and be lifted off the grip frame.

Need a threaded model, I didn't see one on the Ruger website. Maybe I'm blind. Reckon they will produce one soon.

Any option anyone would want will soon be out. It's only been 24 hours after all! I'm sure a 4.5" threaded barrel version will be listed by the time my tax stamp arrives in 4-5 months.

It sure looks easy enough to take down. Wonder how easily the takedown can be accidentally depressed in the field?

Watched the Plinkster video, much better than Ruger's! I like it, but sure wish the barrel was not serialized in order to make it easy to try different ones (as soon as the aftermarket kicks in). Also, wish it detached from the rest of the upper like my Victory and Buckmark. Real PIA for me due to location of LGS and the need to use an FFL for everything Ruger. Really drives up the price. I just purchased a fluted, 7 1/4" bullseye target barrel for my Buckmark for $130, Amazon to my door. Will be over twice that for the Mark 4. Oh well, I'll still get one once VC and/or TK offer a trigger, and Ruger offers a heavy target barrel, D&T for optics only.

It seems that Ruger fixed one issue (take down) but not the others? Shame.

Absolutely they will (or someone else will). Then, just pay your friendly FFL to get it delivered to them, so you can go pick it up

I see Tandemkross is advertising their compensator is for the Mark IV also, so the threaded version should be very close, if not already available.
