"Green" .22 Mag on game?

Anybody here used any of the few available "green".22 Mag ctgs. on game?

Which one? How effective was it? We are required to use non-lead ammo for hunting in my part of California. Not a problem for centerfire, but there are few choices in rimfire and I've not used any of them yet, except to take a couple of cottontails last year with my Stainless S&W 651 while quail hunting.

They killed the bunnies fine, but just about any projectile will. And there was very little tissue damage in spite of the rounds being hollow points and at very close range. That concerns me if I'm going to try my .22 Mag rifles on varmints.

It may have been the short (4") barrel of the revolver wasn't giving enough velocity to expand the bullets. But I wonder if anyone else has tried these from a rifle on ground squirrels, jack rabbits, and coyotes, the main varmints we shoot?

Did they work?

What works best in my Browning A-Bolt .22 Magnum:

1) Hornady 25gr. NTX
2) Winchester 28gr. Tin HP
3) CCI TNT Green 30gr. HP

The Hornady is non-existent right now (if you find some, buy it). The Winchester and CCI pop-up every once and a while.

Performance in the field lines up about the same as well, with the Hornady 25gr. NTX load having superior performance, compared to the other two. Although I have taken numerous ground squirrels, and a handful of rabbits; I have never taken a coyote, or other predator with them.

I plan on completing an updated range report on all three of these brands of ammo, once I can get a hold of another box of the CCI TNT Green.

Eric

I'll look forward to your report.

I've killed quite a few coyotes with the .22 WRM, but none with the "green" rounds. .22 WRM lead core hollow points will kill them very well within about 75 yards with any decent hit. But I wonder about the non-lead....

In rifles I shoot a "Winchester" (really Miroku) 1885 Low Wall single shot, a "real" Winchester 9422M carbine, and a Savage 93 "Classic" bolt action.
