How do you guys tell the model numbers on the various Mark pistols?

I found this to be not so useful as i dont have a catalogue. Just two columns of model # and catalogue numbers , no description.

Unfortunately the list presupposes that you are familiar with Rugerís naming conventions. I think it was created mostly for those collecting so they can see all of the models that were made.

While there are more differences, here are the easiest to figure out.
Mark I ....... no bolt hold open
Mark II ....... Bolt hold open
Mark III........ thumb mag release
Mark IV ....... thumb takedown

As I said many other changes, these are the easiest and each change is included in the subsequent model. Not all changes stayed. The loaded chamber on the Mark III for instance is not on the Mark IV.

Neither marked on the gun, so thats why they are called by their features.
