That's about the price I paid for a new one, and a little less less than I paid for a used, unseen varmint about a year later. I wouldn't sell either for that, my vote would be yes.
Both my American and Varmint CZ 452 .17 Mach2 rifles are excellent tree squirrel rifles and I wouldn't take twice the amount you quoted for either because they would be too difficult to replace. If you decide not to take the rifle, please let the members here know its whereabouts and it will be quickly purchased, I'm sure.
High on my list of regrets is the CZ-453 American that I once owned in .17 M2. And, to make matters worse I had bought it on a close out sale for less than $400.

I recently acquired one .... it’s a dream come true!
