Well I finally got my Remington back together that my Pa had got me back in I think 1978 when I was 8. Some time in my teens I decided to play gunsmith and completely screwed the gun up, parts went missing or became rusted. I did irreparable damage to the stock. In the last few years by scrounging Gun Broker and Ebay I was able to replace the missing parts. I was able to re-blue the rusted parts with Brownells rust blue. And I was able to get a replacement stock off Gun Broker in ok shape and re-finish it.
The final two pieces just showed up the other day, A Weaver rimfire 2.5-7 classic scope and a set of Burris rings. Got her put back together and its sure nice have it shooting again.

Richard

Here is how she turned out,

And here is how she shot with Cheap Remington bulk hollow points that no buddy likes at 25 yards

WOW

That little 581 is a beauty, and glad to hear and see you get it back together and spiffed up.
Kind of inspires me to get back at one of mine and get it finished.

i have owned 6-7 over the years and i now own four, a pre serial numbered one and a later one along with two left hand rifles. all have been very good shooters well up to the task of killing small game and informal and formal target shooting. eastbank.
