I have one of the Pro Varmint's. Scoped it up but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Hopefully you have some Eley to try in it. That is my "go to" ammo...

Please let us know how it does.

I bought one three years ago. It is a GREAT shooter! Pretty much one hole groups at 50 yards with CCI. Good luck.

Yeah it seems that the real luck im gonna need is getting ammo for it.. I have some of the hornady 15.5 grain NTX rounds at home but dont know how good they are. I have about 400 of them on hand. I cant find any cci or eley anywhere around here. I really wanna try the eley.

The Hornady 15.5 NTX shoots GREAT also. I forgot that I test shot it a few weeks ago. I think it was the best shooting of all. I did shoot some 20 grain .!7 Aguila also. It would be perfect to squirrel hunt with. My gun doesn't like the Elely. I have a friend that has a Classic Varmint and it shoots Eley great. I have a Leopold VXII 4x12 40AO on mine.

Im gonna give it a try for sure.. ill probably put a nice rimfire leupold with the fine crosshairs on it.. This whole ammo shortage stuff really is starting to tick me off.. I always like to try several different types of ammo in any new rifle I buy just to fine tune accuracy just like everyone else im sure but with ammo the way it is you can just about forget that.. Its getting pretty sad.

I bought one about four years ago and it's my favorite 17 Mach II rifle (they are addicting). Beautiful gun, solid, super accurate with Eley ammo and not too heavy to carry around the farm.

Let me know if you need some Eley ammo. I have a friend who sold his Mach II and he has a case of Eley (minus one box) sitting around that he wants to sell.

Hello if ICU22-250 isn't interested in your friends case of ammo I would be interested in buying it.

Thanks

Have a pair of Kimber classic varmints and they both shoot like hotcakes! Doesn't seem to matter which ammo. The 15.5 gr. NTX doesn't shoot in a Cooper with a 1 in 10 barrel but it's great in the Kimber's 1 in 9. Have both Kimbers scoped with leupold 4-12s with the LR reticle. Have probably shot 20K plus rounds at small furry critters since '05. See The Varmint Hunter Magazine issue #63 and 85............

Enjoy your rifle, Kimbers are fine tools.

I bought a Kimber Classic Varmint in 17HM2 about 6 years ago. I had owned a very nice K-22, but, as nice as that beautiful Mauser B-styled action is, mine tended to shave lead from the bullet when cartridges were fed from the magazine. For this reason, I went with the K-17 version.

The Eley and Remington ammunition shoots best in this rifle. I butchered mine () with this straight-hand, English walnut stock. I call it my "stick." It is now a very wispy and delightful carry-around squirrel rifle and shoots on par with the best 17 HM2s I've seen. I can frequently get .375" groups at 50 yards, but the rifle won't do it "all day" . Until I saw Steve Boelter's posts about his custom-barreled Anschutz .17 HM2, I would have bet the 17 HMR would always outshoot the .17 HM2, all else equal. It sounds like he's got a Hummer barrel on that rifle.

You should be aware that Kimber was plagued with magazine issues throughout the production of the K-22 and had a few sporadic QC problems with barrels, but I think the K-22/K-17 action is the best Kimber ever made, including the revered KoO 82s, and I don't recall hearing about any of the barrel issues on the .17HM2 rifles.

I really think you'll be pleased with your Kimber. Please post a range report for the record.
