Is the 552 discontinued?

Recently found the new website of Remington firearms following the breakup of the company, and I can't see the 552 anywhere on it. Have a look

https://www.remarms.com/

Is that the end of the road for the 552 Speedmaster?

It may be a while before Remington is back up to full production and lines are introduced back to the public. I would think that the new owners of Remington will be producing their best income producing items first to get some return on their investment, then introduce other lines as demand calls for it. But that is just my opinion and I could be way off...

Remington’s Ilion Plant Will Return to Production March 1st
By John Boch - February 5, 2021

The Remington plant in Ilion, New York
Good news for Remington firearms. The company has made firearms for over two centuries and will resume production on March 1st. The Roundhill Group has secured a federal firearms license and has plans to re-start production next month at the Illion, New York facility.

The local CBS TV station WKTV has the news.

Roundhill group, who bought Remington in Ilion last year, confirmed with NEWSChannel 2 that they received the license last week.

The plan is to open the plant in Ilion on Feb. 16 for maintenance. They are targeting March 1 for production to begin.

Roundhill Group partner, Richmond Italia, said the company plans to bring back 200 employees by the first day of production.

Italia says the company is working with the state to increase jobs at the Ilion facility.

Guessing the roll out and fire up is going a lot slower than planned... lots of press appearances before feb 18th. Would think if they really did fire it up there would be some social media buzz to generate some interest.

I am of the same opinion Bob. They must generate income as quickly as possible or it all could be for naught, unless they have very deep pockets and patient investors (which isn't likely).

The re-opening of the Remington Ilion plant on March 1st was postponed, according to this article. Haven't seen any new updates. I was told by a former Remington employee that the new owners were short on operating capital, so they were in the process of selling some assets such as the Huntsville Alabama facility to raise cash. Seems like they are in a struggle to get production up and running.

If you need cash, you focus on the best selling products first. I bet 700s and 870s will be first to be up and running.

Remington needs to introduce a .22 Bolt Action rifle; something on the same order as a Winchester model 75.
