September 2019 100 Yard Benchrest Challenge

Guidelines:

Notice: : These guidelines are for September 2019 .17/.22 rimfire 100 yard challenge.
Hopefully it is pretty self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, please PM me for clarification or post your question in the thread.

The classes will be divided into three groups, Factory Sporter, Modified and Honorary.
Only CZ or BRNO rifles are allowed in the Factory Sporter and Modified classes.
Any rifle capable of chambering a .17 or .22 caliber rimfire round is permitted in the Honorary class.

Factory Sporter: Rifles can include trigger modifications (including aftermarket trigger replacement,)
bolt work, striker mods, etc., but it must use a factory CZ barrel.
No tuners are allowed, even with factory barrels. Stocks must be factory OEM.
No limitations will be included on optics. Use whichever power scope you wish.

Modified: Will include any rifle which hosts a 3rd party barrel, (Lilja, Benchmark, Shilen, etc.) and/or non-OEM stock. Again, no limitation on optics.

Honorary: Though he is not a CZ shooter, this class was begun due to the inspiration of Smoothtrigger and his desire to participate in our Challenges.
This class will include any non-CZ/BRNO rifle of .17 or .22 rimfire caliber and will also include any action capable of chambering either round. Again, no limitation on optics.

Posted Targets: During the Spring, Summer and Fall months, consider this to be from March through December, inclusive,
all submitted targets must be shot outdoors at 100 yards. During Winter months, consider this to be from December through February, inclusive,
participants have the option to shoot indoors, but will be shooting under a Class entitled "Indoor."
The "Indoor" class will be open to any make and/or model of .17 or .22 caliber rimfire.
There will be no restriction on optics and the choice of ammunition will be left to the shooter's discretion.

Supporting The Rifle/Rests: The rifle can be supported front and rear; however no one-piece or vise-type rests are allowed.
Bipods/rear bags, mechanical rests (front and/or rear) December also be used either from the bench or prone position….shooter’s choice.

Calibers can include any 17 or 22 caliber rimfire in any class.
There are no restrictions on bullet type. You can use match ammo, HV, HP or whatever it is with which you typically shoot.

Remember to include the necessary information when posting your target:

1. Shooter’s RFC screen name.
2. Rifle description – Make/Model
3. Ammunition used
4. Date of target
5. Class - Sporter, Modified, Honorary
6. Score-
For those with any number of CZ’s/BRNO’s and other brands,
feel free to shoot in any class at your discretion.
Please post only your best target from each class.

In the event a shooter feels a mistake has been made in reference to a competitor’s score
or the shooter’s final position among participants, an RFC Moderator will make the final determination.

Please have all targets into the thread which reads “September 2019 100 Yard Benchrest Challenge,” no later then 12:00 midnight, september 29th

When your target is submitted, it MUST have all pertinent information
included such as shooter's screen name, rifle type/model, ammunition used, etc.

Will we be shooting for high score or low score? Is bullseye 1 point an 3 points for outer ring?

15 should be the perfect score. That will be my goal.

I may be wrong but I thought if you take out the center dot completely it's a 0. That center one looks gone to me.

The 1-2-3-15 target is how I annoy the "all-day-long" guys at the local range.
Always have a few in my range gear and when someone starts claiming superb accuracy
with whatever rifle or pistol they have, I hand them a few. Fun to watch the attempts.

The circle is about the size of the dead-right-there zone of a tree rat's noggin.
Outside that circle is a miss or a wounded critter. The target lets me know my limits.
All ones and twos means I'm doing good.
Threes start showing up, I'm outside my limits of accuracy.
Keeps me honest and stops me from attempting head shots I probably wouldn't make.

I shot this target yesterday and find more and more of these challenge targets are humbling. I will post two targets, one a 34 and the other a 36. I actually like the looks of the 36 target better as the bottom row of 5 shots meets my expectations better. This 34 target may be a little embarrassing when some sub 20's get posted. I find it is most difficult to do 10 or 15 shots without some flyers or things I do wrong when actually pulling the trigger. The factory Savage trigger pull is a little heavier than the 2+ ounces like my competition Remington 40X for ARA. I had a very nice calm day so I con not blame the wind for these. Maybe if I loosed up the wallet and shot Midas + I might do a little better. I shot about 7 or 8 total targets so lots of ammunition was used. I suggest maybe a target with 5 shots for Oct or Nov. I will have both of my cataracts taken care of over the next 3 months so maybe I can do better next year.
