Odd Stamping

Saw a model 37 today with stampings on both the barrel and receiver, couldn't get pictures but it simply said Not English Make with a squiggley type frame around the three words. Have any of you ever seen this on a 37?

Indicates it was imported to England and stamped that on entry to the country.

To add to the above, firearms imported for sale in Britain had to be proofed at either of the official proof "houses", in London and Birmingham. The UK is now a member of the CIP, a European/International version of SAAMI, so guns tested in member countries are accepted. However US made guns still have to be proofed.

Privately imported guns do not have to be proofed, until offered for sale.
