Thats whats great about RFC, the one place I have that isnít tainted!

No back to the subject.

How on earth can people believe that a Marlin Model 60 is in anyway worthy of comparison to a Ruger 1022?

Having been on interweb forums since ~2000, I've never blocked anyone until just this month.

Blocked a guy after he insulted me, right after I considered posting a nasty response that might get me banned. So it's a useful anger management tool.

"Comparison" is dependent on a person's individual subjective opinion. I own both. I don't insist on super duper accuracy out of either. I do enjoy shooting both of them, tweaking scopes, plinking, whatever.

Compare what? Neither will ever be tack drivers.

No rounding! It is not yet February.

The no political posts is a very good idea. I am a member of a couple of motorcycle forums. One of them changed ownership a few years ago and the new owner was encouraged to put in a dedicated political section. It very quickly degenerated into nothing but insults and name calling. He realized his mistake and that section was removed for posterity.

Agreed.

I see the same with religious-oriented posts here. I'm all for religious freedom. However, rules are (or should be?) rules...

"We have learned from experience that discussions of politics, gun control, abortion, religion, sexual orientation, and similar "hot button" topics often degenerate into arguments that ruin friendships and divide the community. For this reason, we do not discuss such subjects at RFC and if any such thread or post is found it will be deleted immediately and may result in a temporary ban."

Glad you wrote this because it's possible to take our policy even further than it's policed right now. It seems to be monitored pretty well now, no criticism of the moderators either way.

However to complain that the moderators are not policing strictly enough could get us into a "thought police" state where we think the worst of someone when they were not being political or antagonistic. We assume malice where there was none because we've become the "political thought police" these days too. Then it's like a stone rolling down a hill where every word or phrase is suspect.

Yes, just ban the person yourself from yourself. However, you may miss out on some valuable technical, supply, social and humor contributions from that person in the future if you do.

It's perpetual for some... I have blocked a number of folks over the years, but the last few I've found a lot of entertainment in some folks thought processes even if I think they're quite deficient.... So now I exclude no one.

Human relations can be difficult enough with in person relationships at times, let alone on a social media platform. We can read stuff into a written text that was never intended. Some stems from our own inner sensitivities and some from the other person's poor choice of wording. I just know that if you're looking to find what's wrong with people, it isn't too difficult to do. I'm not speaking of the blatant over and over again ignoring of rules. I've seen that and it needs to be dealt with, but personally I don't fret over an occasional slip. I don't report those, but have on occasion reported the abusive cases. It's never been over a personal dislike of that person though.
