I poisoned the water weeds in front of the shack because of family complaints they got between their toes when wading in this public 860 acre lake complete with jet skis. I still remember the very first time I saw one doing some antics on another lake and thought to myself, kids are gonna love em and walleye fishermen hate em. On some Sunday afternoons it sounds like I stuck my head in bees' nest. Makes me wanna get my very first driver and a bunch of balls for target practice.

10# braid for the main line with 8-10# fluoro leader. I like a lighter leader but I don't like donating the jigs or wotnot to the pike that inhale and slice off the lure/bait. Shimano, Lew's, or Quantum reels get the job done with good smooth drags. Most any bigger name carbon fiber rod with a fast tip, med middle and a solid rear end work the best for my ways of attack. No stretch braid and a CF rod let one feel the little tick of a walleye inhaling the bait.

Got a bunch of dinks last nite with but one keeper while the wife's naked legs fed the stable flies, nasty buggers they are. She has some leg n foot neuropathy from the chemo and doesn't feel em until they have a hole partway drilled into the meat! She has the mouth of sailor.

Al, had my best round yet a 76 today, can't do much else except golf and fishing. caught a few large mouths last week nothing over 2-3lbs. about neuropathy, I've been taking 300 mg x3 daily of gabapentin, I lost feeling in both feet a number of years ago,so this med seems to help me,for others not so much. target shooting for me is delayed a month or more..marty

Dog days of summer fishing here with only the occasional 3-5# smallie or huge suckers on jigs with leeches. Too hot and then frost last nite inland away from the big lake! 80s again this weekend. Fliers with Eley black box, crazy!

Fishing picked up a bit our last stay at the fishing shack. Got a couple walleye large enough for dinner for two, 15" legal, and a 22.75" smallmouth. The bass gave me a 10 min. tug of war with 3 trips under the boat before surrendering. Twas 1.75" away from tying the state record. I'da been famous......in MI. The leech tipped jig came loose just as I netted it. Measured and released.
