17 Aguila/PMC in your 17 HM2

Do any of you shoot the .17 Aguila or PMC rounds? How do they work in your 17 HM2? I hear they will not feed from the mag on a CZ 452 and must be hand fed.

What kind of range/accuracy are you getting? Which shoots the best, Aguila or PMC? Who has the best prices online?

My interest is in finding something which does less damage for the purpose of squirrel hunting.

Here's a good article from varminter.com about shooting .17 Aquila in a .17m2 rifle.

They don't shoot well in my Marlin M2 about 1+ at 50 yards.

they group well out of my marlin 917, but at a different trajectory. They will be about 1 inch low difference at 50 compared to regular rounds, but they really penatrate, I've shot them into several different things and are always impressed at how much they don't expand. Example, i shot into some skids with three , 2X4 braces, at an angle so that I shot at three 2X4's in a row equally spaced. The regular m2 went through the first 2X4 and exited big and stayed shallow on the second board. I was able to remove the spend copper(minus the lead) with my finger, the aguila, however, went through the first
2X4 with a small entry and small exit, the second 2X4 was small entry and small exit, the third 2X4 had a boat shaped entry and a large, really large, exit hole. I have not been able to try the aguila on any varmint yet, but if I get the chance, I will let you know.

i have tried the 17 aqulia in my 77/17 target. it shoots 1" lower than the cci 17 hm2 and is quite dirty shooting. it was an experiment i would'nt try again.

The Aguila shot well in my M2 cz varmint. Like others above reported, an inch or so different in trajectory, but accurate and a great small game round.

Aguila used to OK shooting the .17 Aguila/PMC in the Mach2 chambering but now they do not. This is due to the difference in case length which may cause problems of cases being blown apart.

I think that concern might have been for semi - auto's not returning fully to battery. I never had any problem in my cz.

Good point Glenn. Yes, the main problem is with the semi-autos. That's why some barrels makers will not manufacture barrels for the 10/22's.

My 917m2 likes them just fine also, 3/4 inch at 50 yards isn't great but not bad either.
