10/22 Thompson kit

Has anyone had experience with the Thompson sub gun conversion kit made for the 10/22 rifles? The kits are made by the company 1022fungun and run about $300 or a bit more for either a vertical front grip (gangster look) version or a horizontal front grip (military look). They use any Ruger 1022 type magazine including some of the drum mags on the market. They look like a bunch of fun but I don't want to spend $300 on something that doesn't work as advertised! Your input appreciated!

If it works well I may build one on a Kingston Armory steel receiver.
I will follow this thread to see if anyone with experience has some good input.

Tactical Innovations used to make a Thompson contoured barrel with the fins for the 10/22. In going to check and see if they still have it.

I assembled one years ago when Scott first introduced those kits.

The kit components were very well made with the rear sight the only exception; it was just too basic for my uses, so I crafted a better one from a Williams peep sight.

Good info. I’m glad someone has experience with the kit.

I found the barrel made by Pike Arms at Tactical Innovations. I don’t know if they are still available. They are 16.5” long.

A few months back I assembled/tuned this one..

GM Finned Barrel, older (1972) Rec. with polished OEM worked/bolt.. KID Tr. Kit.. once I got it tuned it runs like a top.

The GSG Drum rode high.. had to carefully take a few strokes (file then stoned) off the top of the rails/lips till it would cycle... Also broke/smoothed the front edges.. thus ramped it a tad.
It later/post photo's got a Reflex sight (Mueller Quick Shot).. it's very accurate with the Reflex out to 50 yds. - MOA plus accurate.

Had one for a little while, my only complaint is that the GSG 110 drum mag would move from side to side, nothing there to keep it stationary.... and the rear sight was lacking. but it was fun.

The Thompson is the Fungun kit. Well made, I got the GI model, and the glue on sticks for the 10 round ruger mags. The other two are Carbine, and para carbine kits. All are great fun.

Anyone know of a source for the finned barrel with the iron sites?

Looks like Green Mountain does not have stock on them

When I did the one I show in Post #7 I apparently bought one of the last Stainless ones EA Brown had - they were out of Blued ... glad now that I bought the Stainless.. give them a call and ask for a ETA... when I called GM last Fall they had no plans to Mfg. more.. disconcerting for sure... IF.. IF EA Brown has a order pending they may be forcing GM's hand.
