Has anyone used a Butler Creek Tensioned barrel?

I have one that I installed 3 -4 years ago. Haven't used it very much.

Now that I have retired I hope to use it more.

Yes, I had a BC carbon fiber and shot two shots thru it. The 2nd shot cracked the carbon fiber. Sent it back for a refund and got this tensioned model in its place.

I have looked at RimfireCentral for 5 or more years and still no one has ever mentioned the BC Tensioned barrel.

Even a bad experience with it has never been posted?

Sorry, can't be of much help. I've never even heard of that barrel. I know that you won't hear any good about the BC carbon fiber, but the steel bull is pretty good. I have a blued steel 20" bull that shoots great.
Just take yours out and put a few bricks of ammo through it. Then, tell US what you think. Don't worry about until you burn a bunch of ammo. If it turns out to be a dud, sell it on evilBay and get something else. Think of it as a "grand experiment," and an excuse to shoot a lot.

I believe that the BC "Carbon Fiber" and "Tension" barrel are one and the same.

Good luck.

Wink had one

several years ago. bought the combo with the stock and thought I was hot stuff. killed several squirrels out to about 60 yds with it if I remember right but traded it when I got the itch for something else. Wasn't as pretty as those VQ carbon over stainless tensioned bbls but never had any trouble with it and never really wrung it out on the bench. Always seemed to be minute of squirrel tho'. LOL

BC Tensioned Barrels

I remember a few years back when BC made two different tension barrels for a short time. One had a finned alloy sleeve and one had a metal sleeve with slots in it. Never heard anything bad about them, only good. No reason they shouldn't work. I wouldn't call the BC "carbon" barrel a true tensioned barrel nor would I call it a real carbon fiber barrel. It is injection moulded plastic and you can see the seam from the mold. That is why its cheap.
