Question M4-22 ambi charging handle? And front takedown pin?

A couple questions about the M4-22 Micro Elite Pistol...

1. Are there any aftermarket, 3rd party, charging handles in that size? I'm REALLY wanting an ambidextrous charging handle.
(Seriously doubting it since, as I understand, the "BCG" is proprietary so probably no one else makes those handles.)

2. Is it just me, or does the front takedown pin not move?? I can pull out the rear and hinge the upper from the lower fine, but I can't for the life of me, even with a rubber mallet, get the front pin to release so I can remove the upper from the lower.
Is that the way it's supposed to be?

Thanks for any feedback!

1: The charging handle is proprietary and only available from Tippmann at the moment. I have seen (don't remember where) folks replacing the latch with a little modification.

2: The front take down pin should move so you can separate the receivers. When the guns are new they are VERY tight, (at least mine were) but will loosen up over time / use. My M4-22 full size elite has over 50k rounds through it. It's as loose as a recruits rifle at Paris Island (it rattles now)

What are the chances of someone making a third party charging handle in metal?

I would LOVE to see someone reproduce a metal Charge handle.

Not a problem but I wish it was bigger. It works just fine but it would be nice to have more real estate like the Timber Creek Outdoors AR-15 Enforcer Ambidextrous

Tippmann

Here’s my solution for an ambi charging handle. Had to notch the steel latch(Dremel to the rescue)for the spring but works very well, indeed. Did this to both my Micro Elite and M4 Elite. Works well, charging with either hand. I have spoken to Greg at Tippmann(great guy btw) about the plastic charging handle and, apparently the earlier Tippmanns had metal charging handles but there was a problem with breakage and they went to polymer. Steel after market charging handles in various configurations would be great. Tippmann is a first class company and I couldn’t be happier with their products and the ability to modify/upgrade their guns to the owner’s needs/whims.
