HELP! Volquartsen accurizing kit installation, safety not working

I remember this being a bit of a pain when I installed the kit on my Mk IV Hunter but I eventually got it. Now installing a kit on my 22/45 Lite and I have everything back together but the safety will not engage. I even took it apart and removed the hammer bushing spacer, still no luck. It looks like the hook on the safety is just hitting the front edge of the sear and won't engage it. What am I doing wrong?

This was the best picture I could get. Hopefully you get the idea. If it matters, my serial number starts with a 5 and was not affected by the safety recall.

Some of VQ's early MKIV kits had that very problem, and they were having people send the sear back to be reworked. They basically shaved a little bit off the front face so the safety could fit over. Once new production (thinner) sears filled the kit pipeline, it became easier to just send out new sears.

I'm sure VQ would be happy to send you a replacement, but I'd just sand a little off that one if it were mine.

Volquartsen has already responded and offered to send me a new sear. So I will go ahead and file this one down to see if I can make it work.

Got the replacement sear from Volquartsen installed and it works perfectly now. Their customer service support was excellent.
