Rossi pump gun age

I just recently got an older Rossi 22 pump gun. I'm assuming a model 62.

Is there any way to determine a date of manufacture, or even a year of? I've been trading emails with Rossi customer service, and they've finally thrown their hands up and say there is nothing they can do to answer my question. Apparently, another company imported it to Canada, and even tho it says Rossi on it, it wasn't "them".

Secondly, is there anything I should be watching out for on this? I've taken it down and given it a good clean and lube. It was very dry, and the barrel was filthy... could barely see the rifling!! It appears to function normally, unfortunately I can't test it right now as everything here is locked down to to covid.

Thanks

Mine is not stainless, and not even close to the condition yours is in. The barrel is pitted quite badly, but the furniture is in great shape. I want to fire it first before I do any restore on the barrel to see if it's worth the effort. Going by the serial #, if they run consecutively, mine is about 411,000 units older than yours. Seems hard to believe that they made that many units, but mine is only a 5 digit #. It is an SA as well.

They only made stainless SA in 1986, and a stainless sac in 1998, the other silver guns are nickel plated. InterArms imported them until 1997/98 at which time Taurus bought them , and Taurus / Braztec took over. No more 62 s .

There you go.........

The magazine Shooting Times published an article in June 2021 issue on Rossi Model 62 SAC that covers the Rossi 62 in pretty good detail.

The article states Rossi manufactured them in Brazil between 1970 and 1998 and they were imported by INTERARMS. The short SAC version were imported for only 10 years between 1988 and 1998.

Production ceased after 1998 when Taurus bought out Rossi. Nickle plated were only made during 1998.

...this all according to the article in Shooting Times.

My 62 SA Octagon barrel model is serial # G346XXX, and I have owned it for 5-10 years, and I don't know it's age.
